How much does sandblasting a brick cost? Sandblasting is a technological process that was patented quite a long time ago, in 1870. Despite everything, it still enjoys great popularity and is widely used in many industries. What exactly is sandblasting? What does it apply to? What types of abrasive can we distinguish? The answers to these questions can be found in the following article, which we cordially invite all interested readers to read.
Sandblasting – what is it?
Certainly, some people wonder what sandblasting actually is. Well, it turns out that this is a certain method of cleaning the surface. Compressed air draws the abrasive from the hopper, as a consequence, an abrasive stream is created. The latter, on the other hand, is designed to break against a given element, thanks to which it is cleaned of rust, deposits, tarnish, decay, and other impurities. More information about the abrasive can be found later in the article. Depending on what element is cleaned, we must choose the right abrasive. It is important to take into account factors such as its granulation, but the diameter of the nozzle or the efficiency of the compressor are also important.

What is sandblasting used for?
Since we are already well aware of what sandblasting is, it is worth finding out what this method can be used for. Well, the process is commonly used in many industries – it is possible due to the fact that the effects obtained are very universal. Sandblasting is used primarily in situations where it is necessary to clean or smooth the surface – metal, stone, steel, wood, plastic and even aluminum. It is worth mentioning that sandblasting allows you to obtain a very smooth surface, which is much better than after grinding. In addition, the previously mentioned method is a guarantee of reaching even the most difficult to reach places.
So when can we use this method? Surely everyone has ever heard of sandblasting walls. In addition, we will remove rust, which is particularly useful in the automotive industry, because we can renew body parts and rims. In addition, we will clean metal and steel structures in many enterprises or on private premises. As a curiosity, it is worth mentioning that sandblasting is often used to clean pavements that are made of cobblestones or stone slabs. Using this method, we will remove old layers of paint, varnish or other coatings. We can successfully use it to process many decorative objects, because it allows us to obtain the desired form. Sandblasting is also used in the renovation of monuments or fountains. This is an effective way to dull the glass, as well as to prepare the surface for painting.
Types of abrasive – what can we distinguish?
Depending on the type of abrasive, we can expect different effects. Stone sandblastingoften requires slightly different materials than sandblasting brick. Each time the abrasive should be adapted to the type of surface, the type of sandblaster, and the expected result. For example, in the case of pressure sandblasters, it is possible to use any type of abrasive. In the sandblasting process, it is most often quartz sand, but not only. Materials such as glass sand, glass beads, copper slag, corundum, copper slag, shot, metal, dry ice and even crushed nut shells are increasingly used. Recently, electrocorundum has been very popular, which is distinguished by much greater durability than traditional sand. Consequently, it is used for glass processing. It is a synthetic abrasive, which is also used to clean steel, stone, metals, wood and brick.
How much can sandblasting a brick cost us?
You are interested in how much it costs to clean a brick? We are in a hurry to answer! Well, sandblasting a brick from natural dirt is a cost oscillating around PLN 15 per square meter. It looks a bit different in the case of removing plaster residues, then we have to take into account the payment of about PLN 35 per square meter. The most unfavorable for us in economic terms is sandblasting the brick with paint, then we have to take into account the costs of up to PLN 50 per square meter. How does it work with sandblasting other materials? For example, we will pay PLN 15 for a square meter of paving stone, however, for steel constructions it is necessary to pay PLN 40. However, it is worth remembering that these are only indicative prices and may vary depending on the location, experience of the company, size of space, as well as several other factors.
